Tips to Keep Moving Forward—>>>
Life is going to get in the way of your journey. Things happen that slow our progress. The key is to keep moving forward. Don’t get defeated. You are going to get knocked down, but you have to get back up. Get back up and keep moving forward. This applies to all aspects of life. And the answer is the same for all of them - get back up and get back at it. Keep trying. The longer you stay down, the harder the climb back up is. But, no matter where you are, you can move in the right direction.
We know one thing that is absolutely true - you will NOT get there if you quit!
Your faith. Your Health. Your job. Your marriage. Your parenting. Your finances. All these things have ups and downs. No matter who you are, you are going to experience good times and bad times in all these categories, and any other areas of your life that are important.
In your faith journey, you will have periods of growth, periods of complacency, and periods where you are flat out getting beaten up by the enemy. The key to growing in your faith and making it through these periods is to create habits, like spending time in God’s word daily, going to church, attending small groups, etc. When you create these habits, commit to doing them regardless of if you are on fire with your faith, kind of complacent, or struggling. The more you stay in these habits, the more you will move towards growth and you will spend more time in a better place with your faith.
In your financial life, you will have periods of prosperity, periods of breaking even, and periods of debt. The key is to keep working and keep making good financial decisions, regardless of the period you are going through. If you do this, you will end up in as best of a financial position as possible. Most people don’t just quit trying to generate income when times are tough. Most people usually work harder during these times.
What about your health and fitness? You will have the same struggles. Periods of motivation and results, periods of staying the same, and for the majority of the population, periods of going backwards and gaining weight and accruing health problems. The two responses I see the most are one, when people have a period of staying the same, they get discouraged and quit, because they feel like it’s not working, and two, when people are in a period where they are not exercising and they are having health problems, they tend to stay down and live defeated and slowly sink further from their goals. Remember - when you are doing nothing, your health and fitness goes backwards, so the longer you wait, the farther you are from your goals.
With diet and exercise, there will be days when you feel like you can conquer the world, days when you feel decent, and days when you don’t feel like doing anything at all. The key here is the same as with your faith and finances - to create habits and stick with them regardless of how you feel. Last week we talked about Developing Your Perfect week. Sometimes days in my perfect week get altered due to life getting in the way, but they never get altered based on my feelings that day. I am committed to that day’s plan, regardless. Some days are easier than others. But on those days, the workout happens, regardless.
So stick with your plan and keep moving forward. You will go through seasons in your journey with these areas of life, but if you keep moving forward and don’t quit, you will always end up in a better place at some point in time.
